For some reason I’m rather smitten by the Scamander:
I know this sounds nuts, but I wonder how hard it would be to build my own. Yes, it would definitely be a multi-year project, but there’s just something about it that I really like. And given that there’s only one in the world, the chances of me actually ever seeing it in person, let alone driving it are next to none. So that’s got me thinking...
Learn to TIG weld aluminum. (In progress)
Move into a place that has a garage/shop space.
???
Make my own Scamander.
There’s a few things I don’t care for about the original, though.
I’m not a fan of how the cab slides open. I’d rather have regular-ish doors.
That fan noise from the engine - that’d get pretty old pretty quick. I’d rather have some sort of plug-in hybrid drive-train. A 3-cylinder Ecoboost or one of GM’s new small gasoline engines combined with some Lithium iron phosphate batteries could be cool. It’d make it weigh quite a bit more, though.
I like the idea of some sort of bulkhead on that rear box, to make it more accessible. If it was a watertight door that folded down, it would be two-fold: it would allow easier access to the box, and the door itself could actually function as a step to get into it.
So Oppos, am I nuts?

Yes you're nuts, do it! But make it faster on the water.

Agreed. Either that, or don’t worry about making it amphibious.
